The work & the maker
Made slowly, with care.
I'm a printmaker working in linocut — a relief printing technique where you carve an image into a block of linoleum, ink the surface, and press it onto paper by hand. Every mark you make is permanent. There's no undo.
My subjects come from the natural world: frogs, pond life, botanical forms, birds, and the quiet creatures that are easy to overlook. I'm drawn to things worth looking at slowly — the texture of a leaf, the posture of a heron, the geometry of a seed pod.
Each print is pressed by hand in small editions on quality paper. No two are identical — the slight variations in ink and pressure are part of what makes a hand-printed piece different from a reproduction.
The process
From sketch to print
Draw
Every print starts as a pencil sketch — working out the composition, the weight of the lines, what to leave and what to cut away.
Carve
The design is transferred to linoleum and carved with gouges. The white areas are cut away; the raised surface holds the ink.
Ink is rolled onto the block and pressed onto paper by hand. Each impression is numbered, signed, and dried flat.
